Moving into only its third year of existence, Pinterest’s presence as the third-largest social media platform is nothing short of incredible. As the company continues to grow, what does the future hold?
- Pinterest will face a number of challenges in 2013, such as internationalization, sign-ups, and attribution and sourcing.
- Watch for its new developments, such as its new iPad and Android apps, search engine and private boards.
- New in 2013 is Pinterest’s first acquisition of a company, Punchfork, a recipe-sharing site. With this acquisition, the site can increase food content and essentially eliminate Punchfork as a competitor. Watch for additional acquisitions in Pinterest’s future.
- What’s next for Pinterest? One source suggests a focus on branded pages or creating an e-commerce channel with an integrated/universal checkout. Another predicts that the company will integrate with Facebook business pages and implement image geo-tagging.
We look forward to finding out what Pinterest has to offer in 2013 and beyond. Have a good weekend!
